Job summary

Dearborn, City of (MI) is seeking a part-time security officer for the library system. The role requires availability for evenings, weekends, and some daytime hours with at least 15 hours per week, year-round. The position pays $13.00–$14.00 per hour and requires at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities include patrolling, preventing disruptions, opening/closing procedures, and reporting incidents. A Michigan driver's license and reliable attendance are essential, with bilingual ability

SALARY:

$13.00 - $14.00 per hour

MINIMUM AGE:

18 years of age

HOURS OF WORK:

Must be available a minimum of 15 hours per week. Will be required to work evenings, weekends and some daytime hours. This is a year-round position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Demonstrated personal character, temperament and judgment to effectively respond to incidents directly, or report them to police or other authority as appropriate.
• Strong verbal skills, customer service orientation and the ability to interact with the library patrons, (including young children, adolescents and teens) in a respectful, yet firm manner.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, to learn assigned tasks, and to apply rules appropriately and consistently.
• Ability to prepare written reports and records, including maintenance of a daily logbook.
• Must be able to engage in frequent standing and patrolling on foot.
