Job summary

The Worcester Public Library is seeking a Library Security Compliance Officer to safeguard the Main Library and grounds. The role includes night and weekend shifts, patrolling, assisting staff, and addressing safety concerns with diverse patrons.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma, experience in security or public service, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply; CORI/SORI check required.

Responsibilities

• Patrol public areas to maintain order and safety.
• Enforce Patron Behavior Policy with staff and Supervising Librarian.
• Diffuse incidents and assist patrons to minimize disruption.
• Escort patrons from premises when necessary.
• Serve as first point of contact for security concerns.
• Assist with No Trespass Orders issued by the library.
• May render first aid in medical emergencies.
• Prepare incident reports and maintain files.
• Assist with closing the building and ensuring patrons exit.
