Job summary

The City of Memphis Libraries is seeking a Public Information Services Assistant to join the general reference desk across library agencies. You will provide readers’ advisory, assist patrons with computers, help identify books, and participate in collection development and program planning for children, teens and adults.

A Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of customer service experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts or related field.
• One year experience in customer service preferred; or any combination of experience or training which enables one to perform the essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Assists with planning and/or conducting programs for children, teens, and adults.
• Lifts and carries books, supplies, or materials to assist customers.
• Stocks library shelves with books and reading materials.
• Assists in training staff and volunteers.
