Job summary

The City of Springfield Library Department is seeking a librarian to provide reference and instructional services to the public and branches, helping patrons locate materials and offering referrals as needed. The role includes web maintenance and bibliographic aids production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and MLS from an American Library Association-accredited program.
• Two or more years of experience in a library environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide reference and instructional services to the general public, branches and regional libraries.
• Assist with Internet Services Librarian in web maintenance and oversee bibliographic aids production.
• Plan, schedule and implement bibliographic instruction and other programs for students, groups or the general public.
• Participate in outreach, books by mail, collection development and system-wide staff training.
• Perform routine tasks such as processing payments, counting cash receipts and maintaining statistics.
