Job summary

City of Memphis seeks a professional librarian to provide information services and reader's advisory, support collection development, and coordinate library programs and staff training. The role reports to Senior Manager/Public Services Supervisor and supports department goals across the library system.

Responsibilities include developing collections, training staff and volunteers, and coordinating special projects, with occasional travel within Shelby County.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent.
• One year of related professional library experience or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Ability to provide information services, reader's advisory, and staff training.

Responsibilities

• Participates in collection development by maintaining, developing, and serving as a resource person.
• Participates in library and community committees and meetings as assigned.
• Functions as staff member in charge of department as needed.
• Provides basic circulation services as needed.
• Performs additional functions as assigned.

Education

Master's degree in Library Science (ALA-accredited)

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university
