Job summary

Abilene Zoological Gardens is seeking a library assistant to provide prompt service, shelve returned materials, and keep items in the correct order. Under the Librarian II – Branch Manager – Main Branch, you will assist the circulation team with check-ins and check-outs and greet patrons.

You will maintain clean public areas, help create welcoming displays, and use a PC with the circulation system. Evening and weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience in a customer service position is preferred.
• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to use a PC and library circulation/catalog systems.

Responsibilities

• Accurately shelves library materials and straighten collections.
• Performs shelf-reading to ensure proper order and assists in displays.
• Maintains cleanliness of public areas to create a welcoming environment.
• Assists at the circulation desk, checking materials in and out efficiently.
• Greets and directs patrons to staff with friendly, helpful service.
• Follows procedures with minimal supervision and reports issues.
