Sudbury Public Schools is seeking a Library Media Specialist Long Term Substitute Teacher for Haynes Elementary School in Sudbury, MA. The role reports to the Principal and requires DESE library licensure and a strong library program focus for Grades K–5.

You will manage day-to-day library operations, collaborate with teachers, lead resource development, and integrate technology to support literacy and information skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science or related field is required
• Master’s Degree preferred
• MA Licensure in Library
• Familiarity with Common Core
• Knowledge of current children’s literature
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral
• Proficient with library technology and research tools
• Literature background helpful but not required

Responsabilités

• Oversee the day to day operations of the library
• Participate in recruiting, hiring, training and supervising library staff and volunteers
• Maintain cataloging system for library materials and train staff/users
• Collaborate with classroom teachers as instructional partner
• Develop and maintain curriculum resources
• Establish procedures for selection, acquisition and circulation of resources
• Collaborate with literacy specialist on curriculum-related literacy
• Evaluate and promote technologies to support teaching and learning
• Teach informational literacy to K–5
• Promote cyber safety and ethical information use
• Collect and analyze data to improve instruction
• Promote love of reading and lifelong learning
• Promote instructional technology to improve learning
• Foster a creative, flexible library environment
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Formation

Bachelor's Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred, Library Science or related field

MA Licensure in Library through DESE

Familiarity with Common Core

Knowledge of current children’s literature

Clear written and verbal communication

Professional practice networking with other district libraries

Technology experience with library software; research tools; Microsoft Office; Google Apps

Literature background helpful
