Job summary

Naperville Public Library is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Worker to support cleanliness, care and upkeep of the library facilities. The role collaborates with all staff to create a safe, welcoming environment and handles routine repairs, preventive maintenance and equipment setup.

Qualifications

• Highschool diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year of relevant experience.
• Preference for experience in plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical repairs, HVAC and masonry.
• General knowledge of common hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine facility, grounds, parking lot, custodial and maintenance activities.
• Repair building components (plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, electrical) across three library facilities.
• Clean and care for facilities; inspect and clean spaces, restrooms, common areas and grounds.
• Perform minor work on ceilings, floors, carpet, and tiles.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and safety inspections; document results.
• Carry out security checks of facilities and grounds; respond to complaints and prioritize action.
• Assist with inventory of supplies and materials; support in setting up rooms and moving equipment.
• Transport books, materials, and supplies between facilities as needed.
• Maintain high standards of customer service with vendors, customers, and staff.
• Follow safety rules and assist in emergencies; keep work area clean.
• Use power and non-power tools and general office equipment; utilize computer software.
• Attend professional development opportunities.
• Perform other related duties and special projects.
