Job summary

The University of Utah is seeking energetic individuals to support on-site facilities management and maintenance for one of its largest and most visited buildings, Marriott Library. The role combines team collaboration with independent project work and requires the ability to lift up to 25 lbs and operate from a step ladder.

Part-time employment is on campus; successful candidates will work under the supervision of the Associate Director of Building Services and contribute to equipment,

Qualifications

• Current University of Utah student enrolled in at least 6 undergraduate credit hours or 5 graduate credit hours during fall and spring semesters.
• Demonstrate a knowledge of general maintenance skills and related tools.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and work from a step ladder.
• Show effective communication and human relation skills.
• Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily/weekly inspection checklists to identify issues with the building, furnishings, and equipment and help facilitate corrective solutions.
• Assist Associate Director of Building Services on various projects related to equipment, furniture, and shelving maintenance.
• Perform minor maintenance on furniture and is responsible for regular cleaning.
• Provide an escort for contractors and vendors in restricted areas during projects.
• Follow detailed instructions to ensure maintenance work-orders are completed in a reasonable time.
• Keep inventory of tools, attic stock materials and complete reports each semester.
• Provide backup coverage for the Shipping and Receiving department as needed.
• Perform weekly cleaning of the library kitchens.
• Perform general custodial work in specialty spaces.
