Job summary

City of Billings is hiring a Facilities Maintenance Support I for the library to perform routine cleaning and sanitation of facilities and grounds. Duties include cleaning floors, walls, windows, restrooms, and public areas, plus handling waste and recyclables.

Salary ranges from $17.22 to $19.96 per hour with additional shift differential for Tue–Fri. Hiring will reflect education, experience, and training on a 7-step pay scale.

Qualifications

• Six months of general custodial experience.
• Ability to follow basic written instructions.
• Must answer basic questions from the public politely.
• A valid Montana driver’s license or one must be obtained within sixty (60) days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of assigned facilities and grounds.
• Use vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, carpet cleaners, polishers and hand cleaning supplies.
• Safely use cleaning chemicals, some may be caustic or produce toxic gases if improperly mixed.
• Remove waste materials and recycle materials to proper locations.
• Monitor for safety and security issues and report them to the supervisor.
• May order department supplies and prepare purchase orders as directed by policy.
