Job summary

City of Kodiak seeks an experienced Library Director to lead the Kodiak Public Library Department. The role requires strategic oversight of operations, budgeting, programming, and policy development to advance literacy and public services.

The Director will collaborate with city officials, staff, and community partners to align services with long-term city goals and sustainable resource use.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, public administration, information management, or related field; a Master’s degree (MLS/MSLIS) preferred.
• 7–10 years of progressively responsible professional library experience including 3–5 years of executive management and 3 years of supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Develops and administers departmental policies and procedures for library programs, events, and services.
• Oversees staff and budgets; plans long-range goals and objectives; manages program delivery and resource allocation.
• Represents the Library Department to other City departments and outside agencies; coordinates activities with stakeholders.
