Job summary

Durango Public Library is seeking a part-time Library Custodian to clean and maintain the library building and grounds. The role involves sweeping, dusting, sanitizing restrooms, and setting up spaces for community programs.

Ideal candidates will have prior cleaning experience, be reliable, and able to follow written instructions while keeping simple logs. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a welcoming community space in Durango.

Qualifications

• Previous cleaning and/or landscape experience (preferred).
• The ability to follow written instructions and maintain simple work logs.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and buff floors to maintain a clean environment for library visitors
• Dust furniture and clean windows and glassware throughout the facility
• Sanitize and stock restrooms, kitchen areas, and water fountains
• Pick up litter, sweep sidewalks, and remove snow or ice from library grounds
• Set up and take down tables, chairs, and equipment for community meetings and library programs
• Perform minor building repairs such as replacing light bulbs and checking for leaks
• Check light fixtures and electrical outlets for visible damage or maintenance needs and report concerns
• Keep accurate logs of work performed and equipment used during your shift
• Help create a secure and welcoming environment for both staff and patrons
