Job summary

Nambe Pueblo Library seeks a Library Coordinator to lead a community public library under the Health, Wellness, and Education Division. The role represents the library publicly, develops programs and materials, and manages budgeting information and facility operations.

The successful candidate will foster language expansion, cultural materials, and strong partnerships with Pueblo programs to broaden community support services.

Qualifications

  • Must pass a background and drug test.
  • Must possess a valid New Mexico driver's license and be insurable through the Pueblo of Nambe.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree or 3 years of progressively responsible administrative experience in management, operations and finance.

Responsibilities

Job description

General Description:

Under the general supervision of the Health, Wellness, and Education Coordinator, establish and operate a quality public library. The Library Coordinator provides leadership and serves as the library's primary public representative. The Library Coordinator is expected to represent the library within the community, develop programs, develop collections, provide budgeting information, and manage the library facilities. Follow Guidelines including applicable laws, rules and regulations, Nambé Pueblo policies and procedures, and supervisor and administrative instructions and directives.

Position Responsibilities will include:
  • Be familiar with and apply for adequate funding sources to sustain and grow the public library.
  • Establish operating procedures for public library.
  • Responsible for any and all reporting requirement for grants or funding sources.
  • Plans, coordinates and maintains services for our citizens for professional development opportunities, Tewa language expansion, culturally-relevant materials, and strengthen collaborative relationships within the Pueblo programs to expand support services.
  • Develop a library educational plan to meet the needs of families, leadership and marginalized populations.
  • Assists patrons in the use of print materials, equipment and technologies by answering questions, offers basic technical assistance, troubleshoots computer problems, assists in navigating the Internet, locates databases in order to help patrons use library resources.
  • Locates materials, answers questions, refers patrons to outside resources and collections when appropriate in order to provide information services to patrons.
  • Maintain capital assets inventory.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must pass a background and drug test.
  • Must have a valid New Mexico driver's license and be insurable through the Pueblo of Nambe.
  • Must possess a high school or GED Equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree or 3 years of progressively responsible administrative experience, including a broad background in management, administration, operations and finance. Knowledge of public library services and operation and of library collections.
  • Upon hiring, the library director is expected to earn Librarian Certification I.
  • Must be First Aid/CPR Certified or willing to obtain certification.
  • Be willing to work a flexible schedule including evening and weekends.
  • Work includes prolonged sitting, as well as moderate lifting, carrying, reaching, stooping, pulling and pushing activities, manual dexterity, clear speech, and visual hearing acuity
