Job summary

Pueblo of Zuni Public Library seeks an Afterschool Mentor to plan, implement, and administer the program. Under Librarian supervision, you will supervise school-aged children and coordinate diverse activities with safety as a priority.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent with some relevant experience, a valid NM/driver license, First Aid/CPR, and a commitment to engaging youth in learning and cultural enrichment.

• Distribute daily snacks in a clean, orderly manner while following food-safety standards and ensuring all dietary or allergies are properly respected.
• Clean of space after use.
• Conduct outreach related to the After-School Program.
• Provide active supervision of all children; maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive environment at all times.
• Follow all program safety protocols and behavior management guidelines.
• Monthly report to Library Board; update registration sheets; post events on ZPL calendar; complete required documentation.
• Scheduling of activities per Zuni Public School District calendar; plan for summer break for all grades.

AFTERSCHOOL MENTOR

TEMPORARY

NE - LEVEL 1

SALARY: $13.76

GENERAL DEFINITION: The primary responsibility of this position will be to plan, implement and administer the afterschool program at the Pueblo of Zuni Public Library (ZPL).

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Work will be performed under the supervision of the Librarian.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Will supervise school aged children.

DUTIES:

Documentation and reporting.

• Provides monthly report to the Library Board.
• Keeps current registration and contact sheets on all program participants.
• Posts program events on ZPL calendar and is informed of other ZPL events that may affect the Program.
• Completes all required documentation for planned activities.
• Scheduling of activities should follow the Zuni Public School District calendar for activities and planning.
• Schedule should include planning for summer break for all grades in the Zuni community.

Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school Diploma or equivalent with some experience working with school-aged children.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATES: Must have a valid New Mexico's Driver's License with no DWI/DUI convictions within the past three (3) years.

• First Aid/CPR Certification

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The position requires minor physical exertion such as short periods of standing, walking over rough uneven surfaces, some recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities. The position may require recurring lifting of lightweight objects with infrequent bending or stooping alternating with the lighter activities. The position requires minimal agility and dexterity.

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Position is subject to Pre-Employment drug testing. Position is Safety Sensitive and will be subject to random drug screening for duration of employment, in compliance with he Pueblo of Zuni Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Policy. Must undergo and successfully pass a background check and FBI Fingerprint check. Must have a pre-employment Tuberculin Skin Test. Hours generally Monday through Friday and Saturday between 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The candidate must have a positive attitude and serve as a role model to participants in the program.
