Job description

Heritage High School Library Clerk - Beginning 2025-2026 School Year

Littleton Public Schools (LPS) is a premier school district located a few miles south of downtown Denver. POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for providing clerical support, including checking books in and out, fulfilling interlibrary loans, supervising student assistants and parent volunteers, assisting teachers and students with requests, processing materials and updating the database, assisting with purging and withdrawing outdated materials, managing overdue items and fines, and purchasing materials and resolving problems with vendors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Manage circulation desk, including checking materials in and out and fulfilling interlibrary loans.
  2. Direct the work of student assistants and parent volunteers.
  3. Work with teachers and students to fulfill requests for materials and information and to troubleshoot library computer problems.
  4. Access the District’s student information database for accurate student information and schedules.
  5. Process and catalog all new print and non-print materials per LPS guidelines, including but not limited to gluing date due slips, ensuring items are entered into the computer, ensuring equipment is bar-coded and operating properly, etc.
  6. Assist with purging and withdrawing outdated materials adhering to LPS guidelines.
  7. Run and distribute overdue material lists, find missing books, and process payments for lost materials.
  8. Assist with maintaining budgetary records of library accounts.
  9. Maintain and/or order inventory, including preparing warehouse or check orders, taking inventory, and receiving and verifying incoming orders.
  10. Coordinate promotional activities within the library, including display cases, seasonal decorations, Teen Read Week promotions, etc.
  11. Purchase materials from vendors using online ordering system and corporate credit card.
  12. Follow up with publishers and vendors to resolve problems involving damaged materials.
  13. Supervise and maintain Flight Center for testing and tutoring.
  14. Inventory all catalogued items every 2 years.

OTHER DUTIES:

Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent. No experience required; experience in CPR/First Aid and working with students preferred.

SALARY:

200 days per year, 8 hours per day. Starting Pay is Grade 5 at $20.17 per hour.
