Job summary

The Spartanburg County Public Library is seeking a Circulation Library Page, Grade 3, to join the Headquarters Library team. The role is part-time (17 hours per week) with a schedule Monday-Thursday 12:00-4:00 pm and one weekend per month.

Pay is $9.44 per hour, and applicants must submit a cover letter, application, and resume. Ideal candidates will be at least 16, have completed the 10th grade, and be comfortable shelving, searching holds, assisting patrons, and performing light clerical tasks

Qualifications

• Must have completed 10th grade and be at least 16 years of age.
• Basic computer skills and general knowledge of library procedures.
• Ability to work independently and with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Arranges materials in alphabetical and numerical order on carts
• Shelves new items and returns materials and empties book drop
• Searches for items on daily hold requests and for lost or missing library materials
• Performs shelf-reading for accuracy, straightening and dusting shelves as needed
• Communicates with staff and assists staff as needed
• Performs minimal clerical and computer tasks
• Handles email communications and checks the intranet regularly for announcements
• Responsible for closing tasks which include re-shelving materials left on tables or carts, straightening chairs, taking items to lost and found
• Provides general and directional assistance to patrons
• Assists with shifting the collection as needed
• Remains aware of safety and security issues
