JOB TITLE: Middle Tyger Branch Assistant, Grade 19
LOCATION: Middle Tyger Library
DATE AVAILABLE: November 1, 2026
SALARY: $2,541 per month (Includes generous benefit package)
HOURS: 40 hours per week
Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday 11am – 8pm; Thursday Off; Friday 8:30am to 6pm; Saturday 8:30am to 5pm
(Note: Must be flexible to accommodate schedule changes, may be asked to work other times as needed).
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Providessuperior customer service when assisting patrons of all ages with informationrequests, patron account services, computers, digital services and otherlibrary equipment.
- Assistswith promoting library card sign ups and community outreach
- Assistswith all circulation duties, library card registration, patron account servicesand collection maintenance
- Workswith a variety of software and library automation programs
- Contributesto branch meetings and workflow by making suggestions and sharing ideas
- Regularlychecks the branch email, Intranet and library website for new information
- Remainsaware of security and safety concerns taking appropriate action as needed
- Performsbasic readers’ advisory and information assistance, material retrieval andplaces hold requests
- Responsiblefor weekly in-transit and missing reports,
- Assistswith preparing courier bins for delivery and in processing.
- Assistswith maintaining the tidiness of the shelves and display areas.
- Assistswith training new employees and assisting with additional branch coverage forprogramming
- Responsiblefor opening and closing procedures for the Branch including register anddeposit tasks
- Supportssupervisor directives and assumes responsibility of building and staff insupervisor’s absence
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree orequivalent combination of education and experience
- Comfortable andproficient using technology, including digital devices
- Excellent interpersonaland customer service skills
- Strong written andverbal communication skills
- Creative,flexible and organized with good time management skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritizetasks, take direction and work independently or in a team environment
- Experience working withlibrary programming with strong knowledge of reading materials for adults
- Knowledge of popularbooks, movies & television, pop culture and current events
- SCPLuses multi-factor authentication for network and program access. Employees maybe required to use their personal device for MFA.
- Driver’s licensevalid in the State of South Carolina with the ability to drive to otherlibraries or community outreach
