Job summary

City of Waco, TX is seeking Seasonal Library Associates to provide friendly public service, help patrons with reference questions, and maintain an orderly library environment. The role requires basic customer service experience and a HS diploma or GED.

Responsibilities include using the library catalog system, shelving materials, assisting with programs, and supporting opening/closing procedures with potential lead duties in the Branch Manager’s absence.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• 1 month of customer service experience.
• Some college experience is preferred.
• Public library experience and bilingual in Spanish are a plus.

• Assist patrons with library equipment, including the copier, fax, online catalog, and public computers.
• Assist patrons with reference and readers’ advisory questions.
• Shelve library materials.
• Assist patrons in locating materials.
• Assist in keeping the library neat and orderly.
• Assist librarians in the preparations and presentation of programs.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures of the library.
• May take a lead role in Branch Manager’s absence.
• Must follow ALA principles and guidelines re censorship and confidentiality.
• Must be able to report to a different location within 30 minutes as needed.
• Must be able to work days, evenings, and weekends, including Sunday afternoon.
