Job summary

Central Library is seeking an Assistant Manager for Kid & Teen Central to supervise Librarians and Public Service Associates, applying professional librarian skills to manage resources, programming, and community partnerships.

Under general guidance, you will lead staffing, training and performance management, develop workflows, and ensure excellent service while supporting the library’s goals and policies across the department.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required.
• Indiana Librarian Certification 2 – Branch or Department Head required.
• 3–5 years of Librarian or management experience.

Responsibilities

• Interviews, hires, trains and evaluates staff; conducts staff meetings and communicates information to staff.
• Provides direction, coaching and leadership to staff; models excellent customer service.
• Directs plans for services and programs for the community; schedules, delivers and evaluates programs.
• Directs staff in maintaining the collection, organizing displays and evaluating materials.
• Develops community partnerships and promotes library use, programs and services.
• Assists patrons with information resources and training on catalogs and e-resources.
• Acts as person-in-charge; ensures safety and enforces policies in a large library building.
