Job summary

York County Library System is seeking a Library Assistant for Martin Library. The role supports Member Services/Teens, with 28–29 hours per week, Monday–Wednesday and Friday plus select Saturdays.

Responsibilities include check in/out, assisting patrons, creating member records, shelving, and helping with digital resources. Qualifications include a high school diploma (college experience preferred), strong communication, dependable teamwork, and computer proficiency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• College experience preferred.
• Computer proficiency required.
• Public library customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Check in/out library materials using ILS; collect fees.
• Provide direct customer service in person, by email, and by phone.
• Create/update member records.
• Shelve materials and maintain shelf order; check materials for condition.
• Assist with eBooks, eReaders, OPACs, and Inter Library Loan.
• Assist with public computer use and routine printing tasks.
• Perform opening/closing duties and maintain desk area.
