Job summary

The City of Redwood City Public Library is seeking a Librarian I/II to deliver innovative programs for children, families and teens at the Redwood Shores and Schaberg Branch Libraries. This full-time, onsite role supports community literacy and equity goals.

The ideal candidate has at least one year of professional library experience with children, and may benefit from Mandarin language skills. The position requires days, evenings and weekend hours, with a flexible staffing model.

Qualifications

• At least one year of experience performing professional library work with children.
• Ability to speak Mandarin is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Advise and assist library customers; demonstrate catalog usage and refer customers to other agencies as needed.
• Provide customer service that aligns with the Redwood City Public Library Active Customer Service Model.
• Assist in developing, implementing and evaluating programs for youth, teen and adult services.
• Participate in publicity and public relations activities; prepare exhibits for publicity.
• Guide customers to books or materials to match reading interests.
• Organize and maintain library materials; classify and catalog materials; maintain databases.
• Review sources and select materials for acquisition or deselection; respond to information requests.
• Attend department meetings and continuing education; represent the library at professional meetings.
• Perform outreach to community organizations and schools; inform residents about library services.
