Role Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Librarian to join our academic institution. In this role, you will play a crucial part in fostering a culture of inquiry and lifelong learning, collaborating with faculty and students to enhance information literacy and research skills. You will oversee library resources and services, ensuring that they effectively meet the diverse needs of our college community.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for the library that aligns with the mission and goals of Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service
- Manage library operations, including collection development, cataloging, and circulation services to support academic programs
- Collaborate with faculty to integrate information literacy into the curriculum through workshops, instructional sessions, and tailored resources
- Provide reference and research assistance to students and faculty, utilizing various information retrieval systems
- Develop and implement library policies and procedures that enhance user experience and promote accessibility
- Evaluate and assess library services, collections, and technologies to improve service delivery and resource utilization
- Organize library events, programs, and outreach initiatives to engage the college community and promote library resources
- Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, regulations, and accreditation standards
Position Type
- Part-Time (25-30 hours/week)
- Hourly pay, negotiable based on experience, credentials, etc.
- Annual incentive compensation based on performance, tenure, and college success
Required:
- Master's Degree in Library Science or Information Science from an accredited institution
- Strong understanding of library management principles and best practices.
- Strong understanding of library operations and services
- Demonstrated experience in collection development and resource management.
- Experience providing reference and instructional support in a library setting
- Proficiency in using library management systems, electronic resources, and emerging technologies
Preferred:
- Knowledge of current trends and best practices in library services and information literacy
- Demonstrated knowledge of library technologies, systems, and best practices
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Experience working in a higher education environment
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in Library management systems (LMS), integrated library systems (ILS) and electronic resource management systems.
- Experience with data analysis tools for assessing library usage and user needs.
- Familiarity with cataloging standards and metadata practices.
- Experience with digital repositories and content management systems
- Proficient in using citation management tools (e.g., Zotero, EndNote)
