Job description

The Student Worker will assist with various School of Education operations.

LibertyLIFE Student Workers prepare and support program activities and help program participants integrate into campus life. They will help with the daily functioning of the LibertyLIFE program, gathering materials, preparing the room, etc. This role will work with a team to help the smooth functioning of the program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Campus Exploration: Coordinate with LibertyLIFE Director to set and help the program meet community engagement goals.
  • Navigation Support: Assist students in learning to navigate campus, particularly during the first few weeks of the semester (e.g., mastering bus routes, locating classrooms, finding dining halls).
  • Weekly Check-ins: Attend a mandatory weekly progress meeting with the LibertyLIFE Program Coordinator to share updates, discuss challenges, and celebrate student milestones.
  • Campus Events: Although not a primary responsibility, student workers may coordinate with other LibertyLIFE staff to attend social events or activities each week to promote community building.
  • Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
  • Works effective as a team member, embracing and fostering LU's Christian model and Mission - Training Champions for Christ.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Education and Experience
Minimum
  • High school diploma
  • No experience required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrates initiative with the ability to work proactively

  • 1-2 years of experience working with students with disabilities

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work Environment

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled setting. It is well lighted, and the noise level is moderate. Working environment may include facilitation of events outdoors occasionally.

Driving Requirements

If the employee is required to travel in performing the duties and responsibilities of the position, the use of one's personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel. Proof of a valid driver's license, an acceptable DMV record, LU Driving Approval, and liability insurance is required when driving in the performance of the employee's position.

Student employees are paid at least the current Virginia minimum wage per hour. Pay may vary by position and department based on job responsibilities, required skills, available funding, and market conditions.
