Qualifications

  • Current Liberty University student enrolled and eligible to work on campus.
  • Able to work up to 18 hours per week.
  • Available 8:00am–5:30pm, Monday–Friday.
  • Strong organizational and customer service skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Preferred CPR/AED and First Aid certification or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure facility cleanliness, effective operations, and high level of customer service.
  • Greet guests, answer phones, and assist with office tasks.
  • Direct inquiries to the appropriate Campus Rec staff or department.
  • Communicate issues or patron concerns to staff during hours.
  • Maintain stocked supplies and clean public spaces.
  • Assist with events and operations during evenings, nights, or weekends.
  • Attend required Campus Recreation trainings and meetings.
  • Support Campus Recreation operations and programming as needed.

Job description

The Campus Rec Student Worker is responsible for performingoperational tasks for Campus Recreation programs and facilities.They will provide excellent customer service, maintain facility and asset cleanliness, ensure that all policies are followed by guests and participants, and ensure all safety measures are being implemented.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for ensuring facility cleanliness, effectiveoperations, and a high level of customer service, at the CampusRecreation business office, during operational hours.
  • Complete day to day operational tasks including: greetingguests, answering phone calls, keeping office common areas cleanand organized, distributing mail, recording inventory, as well asassisting in the day to day requests of departmental needs.
  • Direct outside phone calls, questions, or information to theappropriate Campus Rec employee or department as needed.
  • Effectively communicate any issues or patron complaints to theAdministrative Assistant during operational hours.
  • Responsible to ensure clean and organized office common areasthrough stocking supplies and maintaining clean public spaces.
  • Regularly assist with events and operations during evening,nights or weekend hours.
  • Attend all required Campus Recreation trainings andmeetings.
  • Perform all other tasks assigned by the AdministrativeAssistant to assist with Campus Recreation operations andprogramming.
  • Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fosteringLU’s mission.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current Liberty University student
  • Ability to work up to 18 hours per week
  • Availability to work within the operational hours of 8:00am –5:30pm (Monday – Friday)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Basic computer knowledge
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Programs
  • Helpful and friendly personality
  • Experience in a customer service position
  • Desire to pursue recreation management as a career field
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification, or ability toobtain

  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order toconduct business.
  • Regularly lift 40 or fewer pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work Environment

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office setting. Areas are well lit and the noise level is moderate.

Driving Requirements

If the employee is required to travel in performing the duties and responsibilities of the position, the use of one's personal vehicle(or LU vehicles) may be required for travel. Proof of a valid driver's license, an acceptable DMV record, LU Driving Approval, and liability insurance is required when driving in the performance of the employee’s position.

Student employees are paid at least the current Virginia minimum wage per hour. Pay may vary by position and department based on job responsibilities, required skills, available funding, and market conditions.
