Job summary

Sylvania is seeking an Assistant Track and Field Coach to support a high school program in Lebanon, Indiana. The role emphasizes developing athletes, planning practices, and promoting academic progress while maintaining safety and sportsmanship.

The ideal candidate has a college degree, high school coaching experience, and strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Familiarity with strength and conditioning, as well as NFHS/IHSAA rules, is preferred.

Qualifications

• College degree required; teacher license preferred but not required.
• Experience coaching at the high school level, varsity experience preferred.

• Ability to work well with students, staff and community.

• Knowledge of NFHS and IHSAA rules and policies.

Responsibilities

• Build personal and professional relationships with administration, teachers, coaches, players and parents.
• Plan and prepare practices, and stay organized.
• Care for equipment, safety, and monitor participation numbers.
• Encourage player development at high school, middle school and youth levels.
• Provide instruction, teaching skills and strategies.
• Understand budgeting and related processes.
• Use Hudl, MaxPreps, FinalForms and EventLink software.
• Adhere to NFHS and IHSAA rules and policies.
• Be a positive role model and motivator.

Position Title: LHS Assistant Track and Field Coach

Education Required: College degree, teacher license preferred but not required.

Previous Experience Required: Experience coaching at the High School Level with Varsity High School coaching experience preferred. Highly Effective Leadership, Organizational, and Communication skills required. Ability to work well with students, staff members, and community. Experience and knowledge of strength and conditioning programs.

• Able to build personal and professional relationships with administration, teachers, coaches, players and parents.
• Prepares, plans, responsible and well organized.
• Dedicated and concerned about equipment, safety, sharing of athletes, academic progress and participation numbers.
• Encourages player development at the high school, middle school and youth league level.
• Provides proper instruction, teaching skills and strategies.
• Understands financial and budgeting process.
• Has technology skills and/or willing to learn to navigate Hudl, Max Preps, Final forms and Event Link software programs.
• Is knowledgeable and has an understanding of coaching and practicing rules and policies governed by the NFHS and IHSAA.
• Positive role model and motivator.
