Job summary
Side by Side is seeking a Temporary LGBTQIA+ Health Access & Peer Support Specialist to provide community outreach, health education, and peer support for LGBTQIA+ youth and young adults in South Alameda County. You will conduct referrals, warm handoffs, and resource navigation, helping youth access gender-affirming and other healthcare services.
The role emphasizes outreach, education, and linkage to services, with a focus on empowering youth and maintaining accurate documentation.
Qualifications
- Experience working with LGBTQIA+ youth in community-based settings.
- Understanding of LGBTQIA+ communities and culturally responsive, youth-centered services.
- Experience providing non-clinical peer support and outreach.
- Ability to document accurately and maintain confidentiality.
- California driver's license and reliable transportation may be required.
- Fingerprint clearance.
Responsibilities
- Provide non-clinical, peer-based support to LGBTQIA+ youth 5–26.
- Conduct health education and resource navigation for participants.
- Make referrals and warm handoffs to healthcare and social services.
- Engage community through Our Space center and partner events.
- Document services and outcomes in the program systems.
- Collaborate with staff to ensure distinct Measure W activities.
