Job summary

Safe Place for Youth (SPY) in Venice, CA is seeking an LGBTQ Coordinator to lead an affirming program for foster and transitional‑age youth across Los Angeles. You will develop safe spaces, mentorship, education, and resources, while building staff capacity through training and allyship development.

The role focuses on youth engagement, cultural responsiveness, and collaboration with local organizations to support 1,000+ youth served annually.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in social science or related field.
• 1–2 years working with LGBTQ+ individuals in social services or related setting.
• Experience with direct services to high‑risk transitional‑age youth.
• Trauma‑informed care knowledge and practice.

Responsibilities

• Lead a comprehensive LGBTQ+ affirming program for foster and transitional‑age youth across Los Angeles.
• Facilitate weekly Queer Joy group sessions for 5–15 youth.
• Distribute gender‑affirming products and create safe, affirming environments.
• Develop and maintain LGBTQ‑specific resource lists and referrals.
• Collaborate with SPY staff and partners to strengthen cultural competency and trauma‑informed practices.
• Plan and host youth‑centered events and outreach opportunities.
