Job summary

The San Diego LGBT Community Center seeks a Community Organizing and Power Building Specialist to advance LGBTQ+ equity through civic engagement, research collaborations, and power-building campaigns in San Diego County.

You will coordinate community researchers, support focus groups, and help translate findings into practical advocacy tools while leading volunteer-driven campaigns and external partnerships.

Qualifications

• Education/Experience: At least three years of experience in community organizing, civic engagement, advocacy, or campaign work (paid or volunteer)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of LGBTQ+ communities and social justice values

Responsibilities

• Lead on-the-ground organizing and implementation of the Center's civic engagement campaigns and activities.
• Coordinate community engagement and empowerment strategies aligned with the agency's strategic goals.
• Build and sustain a Community Research Advisory Council with up to 20 paid partners.
• Represent The Center externally at movement-building events and coalitions.
• Develop branded organizing materials and track campaign outcomes for multiple audiences.
