Job summary

The Level 1 Lab Technician at Weber State University provides maintenance and technical support for Open Student Computer Labs across nine locations on Weber State’s Ogden and Davis Campuses. Job Summary/Basic Function

The Level 1 Lab Technician is responsible for the maintenance and technical support of the computers, printers, and other technology equipment located in the Open Student Computer Labs. The Open Student Computer Labs operate at 9 separate locations on Weber State’s Ogden and Davis Campus. The Level 1 Lab Technician will provide technical support to the Computer Lab employees and Staff via Discord, email, phone, and will receive direction from the Technical Support Manager and the Lead Technician

The responsibilities of the Level 1 Technician include but are not limited to:

  • Troubleshooting hardware, software and problems with Windows PCs, Macs, and printers
  • Some coding and collaborating with peers to ensure that solutions are solved and align with the University’s and Computer Lab’s needs.
  • Troubleshooting network connectivity issues
  • Imaging both Windows PC and Mac computers
  • Applying regular software updates to lab computers on a weekly basis

Required Qualifications

Current full-time or part-time WSU student
Customer service experience
Basic understanding of modern computing standards including hardware, operating systems, and networking and coding practices.

Due to the Affordable Care Act ( ACA ), individuals who have worked in a salaried capacity for Weber State University are ineligible to be hired as an hourly or adjunct employee at Weber State for six months.
