Job summary

Northland Area FCU in Alpena, MI, is seeking a Lending Specialist II to guide members through the loan process from application to funding.

This is a full-time role focused on accurate underwriting support, clear communication, and teamwork with loan originators, title companies, and other partners to ensure a smooth lending experience.

You will move loans toward clear-to-close, prepare documents, fund loans, and promote our credit union products while delivering exceptional member service.

Qualifications

  • Experience in lending, loan operations, loan processing, financial services or related field.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of lending procedures, regulations, and member service best practices.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional service.

Responsibilities

  • Assist members and internal teams via calls, emails, chats and lending inquiries.
  • Conduct loan interviews and closings, ensuring policy compliance.
  • Coordinate appraisals, title work, insurance verification, employment verification, and other third-party services.
  • Prepare loan files, communicate underwriting requirements, and help move loans to clear-to-close.
  • Generate and review loan closing documents for accuracy.
  • Funding loans, balancing transactions, and supporting the closing process with members and business partners.
  • Analyze member financial information and assist with underwriting support activities.
  • Support post-closing audits and ensure loan quality and compliance standards are met.
  • Promote Credit Union products and services that help members meet their financial needs.
