Job summary

The Tulalip Tribes seek a Legislative Policy Analyst to research, identify, analyze and track legislation at local, state and federal levels affecting tribal sovereignty and treaty rights. The role builds relationships with federal, state, and local governments and their agencies to support policy goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Economics, Public Policy, Sociology/Social Sciences, International Affairs, American Indian Studies, or related field (Master’s preferred).

DEPARTMENT: Treaty Rights and Government Affairs

JOB SUMMARY

The Legislative Policy Analyst will research, identify, analyze and tracks legislation on the local, state and federal level as it pertains to tribal sovereignty, treaty rights and a variety of issues that affect tribal governments. Develops and promotes relationships through networking opportunities with Federal, State and local governments, including their agencies. Supports the Director of Governmental Affairs in achieving the mission of the department. Coordinates with Tulalips state and federal lobbyists to advance Tulalip’s policy goals through legislation.

COMPENSATION: $36.86

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION

• Bachelor Degree in Political Science, Economics, Public Policy, Sociology/Social Sciences, International Affairs, American Indian Studies, or related field.


• Master’s Degree preferred. *May be considered in lieu of three (3) years of experience.

MINIMUM RELATED EXPERIENCE

• Four (4) years of legislative and/or policy experience at the local, state and federal levels.


• Four (4) years of experience workingin public forums.


• Experience working with tribal governments.

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/PREREQUISITES

• WA State Driver License. (Personal Auto Insurance)


• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

This is a Regular Full-time position.
