Job summary

The Nevada Coalition of Legal Service Providers is offering a full-time externship in Carson City to support the coalition's legislative priorities. Externs will track bills, prepare one-pagers, and meet with stakeholders and legislators to inform policy positions.

They will assist in formulating policy positions, develop materials, and present legislation in committee hearings. A stipend and cost-of-living support are provided, with a schedule including evenings and weekends near deadlines.

Qualifications

• Second- or third-year law students; must have completed the full-time first year curriculum prior to placement.

Responsibilities

• Reporting out on committee meetings
• Tracking and analyzing proposed legislation
• Working with community stakeholders
• Meeting with legislators
• Developing materials and presentations on legislation
• Presenting legislation in a committee hearing
