The Axel Group is seeking a Legal Word Processor to join our client’s team in Monmouth County. This position will provide critical administrative and document production support to attorneys and staff in a fast-paced legal environment. The ideal candidate will have strong Microsoft Word skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to produce polished, accurate legal documents while managing multiple priorities. Responsibilities
  • Prepare, format, edit, and proofread a wide variety of legal documents and other attorney materials.
  • Format documents according to established firm standards, attorney preferences, and individual practice group requirements.
  • Utilize advanced Microsoft Word functions, including styles, templates, pagination, tables, tables of contents, numbering, headers/footers, track changes, and document formatting.
  • Review completed documents for accuracy, consistency, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and overall presentation.
  • Assist attorneys and legal staff with document revisions, redlining, track changes, and maintaining accurate document versions.
  • Convert and format documents from various sources while maintaining consistent layouts and professional presentation.
  • Handle time-sensitive document requests and prioritize multiple assignments while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Work closely with attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff to ensure documents are completed accurately and delivered within requested timeframes.
  • Maintain and update document templates and ensure appropriate formatting standards are consistently followed.
  • Assist with printing, scanning, copying, electronic filing, and organization of legal documents and correspondence.
  • Manage incoming telephone calls and direct inquiries to the appropriate attorney or staff member in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Welcome clients, visitors, and other guests while maintaining a professional and organized office environment.
  • Assist with conference room scheduling and meeting coordination as needed.
  • Provide general administrative and clerical support to attorneys and staff to help ensure efficient day-to-day office operations.
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical files and handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Coordinate with internal team members to address document requests, administrative needs, and other time-sensitive priorities.
  • Support additional administrative, document production, and office-related projects as needed.
Requirements
  • Previous experience with legal document formatting, word processing, or legal administrative support required.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, including styles, track changes, tables, tables of contents, pagination, and document formatting.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong proofreading and editing skills.
  • Ability to identify and correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, formatting, and consistency issues.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven professional environment.
  • Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal and client-service skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Prior law firm experience preferred.
Compensation
  • Salary: $50,000–$55,000, based on experience
