Job summary

Jobtailor in Phoenix, AZ seeks a capable legal secretary to support attorneys in the Civil Services Division. You will type and prepare pleadings, coordinate case files, maintain calendars, and file documents for court submissions for a busy county office.

  • Post-secondary education may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
  • Valid Arizona driver's license upon hire
  • Thorough background check required
  • Drug and alcohol testing requirements for positions designated as safety-sensitive
  • Previous Maricopa County Attorney's Office experience valued
  • Certificate of completion from an accredited secretarial school or legal secretary training program valued
  • Work experience in a private law firm or prosecuting agency as a legal secretary valued
  • Ability to move up to 20 pounds floor to waist and push/pull up to 20 pounds at a distance of up to 100 feet

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized administrative and support services to attorneys and paralegals
  • Type and prepare pleadings, subpoenas, documents, correspondence, and briefs for court filing
  • Coordinate case files, file documents, and maintain calendars for attorneys
  • Review pleadings and court Minute Entries to track deadlines accurately
  • Use case management software to maintain electronic case files, draft documents, and track deadlines
  • Coordinate and schedule depositions, meetings, and other appointments
  • Photocopy and distribute correspondence, notebooks, motions, briefs, files, and other documents
  • Retrieve data using iCIS, PACER, Prolaw, and other databases
  • Hand-deliver and pick up documents on and off-site and distribute mail
  • Travel to and from various County locations for meetings and trainings as needed
  • Work in an office setting in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
