Job summary

HomeVestors of America, Inc. seeks a paralegal professional to support the Legal Department on franchising, real estate investments, and intellectual property matters. Responsibilities include drafting franchise agreements, organizing records, and handling franchisee inquiries.

You will also monitor regulatory changes, perform legal research, and collaborate across departments. Hybrid in-office and remote work is available with occasional travel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree required.
  • 2+ years related work experience preferred.
  • Ability to handle high work volume and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience drafting legal documents and managing legal records.

  • Draft franchise-related documents (franchise agreement, addendums, amendments, defaults and terminations).
  • Organize and maintain franchisee files and legal records.
  • Respond to and resolve franchisee inquiries and issues.
  • Investigate and prepare demands to enforce brand, contractual and IP rights.
  • Conduct various research for legal matters.
  • Regularly communicate with franchisees.
  • Monitor laws/regulations relevant to real estate investment and franchising.
  • Perform other legal department tasks as needed.

Job description

This position assists the Legal Department in support of company legal matters, primarily in areas of franchising, real estate investment, and intellectual property.

Responsibilities:
  • Draft various franchise-related documents, including franchise agreement, addendums, amendments, defaults and terminations;
  • Organize and maintain franchisee files and other legal records;
  • Reviewing, responding to and resolving franchisee inquiries and issues;
  • Investigating and preparing demands to enforce brand contractual and intellectual property rights;
  • Conducting various research;
  • Regularly communicate with franchisees;
  • Monitor changes in laws and regulations relevant to real estate investment and franchising; and
  • Various other legal department tasks.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree;
  • At least 2 years’ related work experience;
  • Ability to handle high work volume;
  • Organizational, prioritization and time management skills;
  • Ability to multitask;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Critical thinking skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Ability to collaborate both intra and interdepartmentally as necessary;
  • Ability to maintain confidential information;
  • Experience drafting legal documents and managing legal records;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Office Suite;
  • Must pass comprehensive background check;
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies or related field (preferred);
  • Paralegal certification (preferred); and
  • Experience with SalesForce software platform (preferred).
  • Hybrid in office and work from home;
  • Occasional travel;
  • Occasional after hours or weekend as necessary.
