Job summary

Modal is seeking a highly organized Legal Operations Lead to join as the first dedicated legal ops hire. You will own the systems, records, and workflows that let a fast-growing tech company scale its legal function, building core capabilities from scratch.

You’ll report to the General Counsel and collaborate with Finance, BizOps, GTM, and People teams. You will design contract lifecycle workflows, implement an intake process, and drive efficiency with AI-enabled tooling while managing corporate

Qualifications

• 5+ years in legal operations, contract operations, or a corporate paralegal role at a high-growth tech company
• Demonstrated ability to build and document processes from the ground up
• Experience configuring workflows and templates within Ironclad or a similar CLM
• Experience with AI tools and risk awareness
• Sound judgement about what to handle and what to escape

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain contract operations, designing lifecycle workflows and approval logic
• Design legal intake process to support internal stakeholders
• Leverage AI to accelerate the legal function and configure tooling for efficiency
• Manage corporate administration and record-keeping, including stock matters and signature coordination
• Coordinate with registered agents for entity management and filings
• Support stock administration and cap table hygiene
• Manage outside counsel and legal spend
