What you'll do

Docusign is seeking a Product Counsel to join our Legal team in a foundational role critical to our product verticals. Under the guidance of senior counsel, this role will provide product counseling and partnership strategies to verticals such as education, life sciences, financial services, and real estate. The position involves managing relationships with state and local real estate associations, supporting existing partnerships, and expanding our presence in this market segment. The ideal candidate will have commercial contracting expertise and partnership management experience, capable of balancing business objectives with legal requirements. This position reports to the Legal Director & Associate General Counsel, Product & Partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of legal strategies for renegotiating key technology partnership agreements.
  • Partner with senior counsel to draft and negotiate complex legal documentation, including modifications and new templates.
  • Develop legal strategies balancing business objectives with risk mitigation.
  • Advise business leaders, analyze issues, and provide legal consultations.
  • Develop solutions to meet legal needs for assigned business groups.
  • Build and maintain relationships with organization leaders and cross-functional teams.

Job Designation

Remote: Employee works from a designated remote location most of the time. Positions are assigned a job designation of In Office, Hybrid, or Remote, which can change based on business needs and local law.

What you bring

Basic

  • JD degree and active membership in good standing with a U.S. state bar.
  • 5+ years supporting legal activities, including complex contracting and partner agreements.
  • Experience in corporate law, licensing, and business partnership agreements.
  • Experience working with public companies and compliance requirements.

Preferred

  • Experience in software licensing, technology partnerships, and vertical markets like real estate, health, or finance.
  • Strong business sense, legal drafting skills, and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of contract maintenance, renewal strategies, and partnership structures.
  • Interest in technology law and startup environments.

Wage Transparency

Pay varies by location and experience. For example, California ranges from $141,700 to $227,825 annually.

This Role Is Also Eligible For

  • Variable incentive pay for sales roles and a bonus plan for non-sales roles based on company performance.
