Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Advise on FCC, state PUC and telecommunications regulatory requirements for UCaaS, CCaaS and VoIP products.
• Provide guidance on STIR/SHAKEN, Caller ID, CLI masking, interconnection and regulatory filings.
• Advise on call recording, TCPA, FTSA, A2P/P2P messaging and consent requirements.
• Support AI-enabled products with governance and transparency considerations.
• Partner with Product and Engineering on regulatory issues throughout the product lifecycle.
• Support commercial teams on regulatory questions and coordinate with external counsel.

Corporate Counsel – Telecommunications & Regulatory

The Opportunity

A high-growth technology business operating across cloud communications and AI is seeking a Corporate Counsel – Telecommunications & Regulatory to join its in-house legal team.

Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, you will be the key legal adviser on telecommunications and regulatory matters, partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Sales and Operations.

Responsibilities:

• Advise on FCC, state PUC and telecommunications regulatory requirements affecting UCaaS, CCaaS and VoIP products.
• Provide guidance on STIR/SHAKEN, Caller ID, CLI masking, interconnection and regulatory filings.
• Advise on call recording, TCPA, FTSA, A2P/P2P messaging and consent requirements.
• Support the legal review of AI-enabled products and emerging AI governance and transparency requirements.
• Partner with Product and Engineering on regulatory issues throughout the product lifecycle.
• Support commercial teams on customer regulatory questions and coordinate with external counsel where required.
• Develop practical compliance frameworks, guidance and training for the wider business.

Ideal Background:

• J.D. with active U.S. state bar membership.
• 4–8 years' legal experience, with strong telecommunications regulatory experience.
• Good knowledge of FCC rules, the Communications Act and VoIP/cloud communications regulation.
• Practical experience with call-recording consent, TCPA and/or messaging compliance.
• Interest or experience in AI regulation and governance.
• Strong commercial judgement and the ability to translate complex regulation into clear, practical advice.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
