Job summary

The IDB Group is seeking an active undergraduate student in Law for a Winter Internship (Intern Consultant) based in Washington, DC. The two-month program (January 16–March 15, 2027) offers hands-on experience in legal and compliance matters within IDB Invest’s Legal Department and the Compliance function.

You will assist with advisory work, policy development, and research while coordinating with multiple units. Strong English skills and a willingness to learn are essential.

Qualifications

• Active undergraduate student in Law from an accredited university.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of another Bank language (Spanish, French, or Portuguese) is a plus.
• Soft Skills: Result-driven, collaborative, innovative, client-oriented, strong communicator, self-motivated, eager to learn, and excellent time management.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications (including Excel) is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Compliance unit in advising Management and business teams on a variety of legal and compliance matters.
• Identify, manage, and develop solutions to mitigate nonfinancial risks in operations (integrity, ethics, conflicts of interest, MNPI, AML/CFT).
• Develop and implement policies, guidelines, and procedures to prevent, assess, and mitigate compliance risks.
• Conduct research on legal and compliance topics and draft reports for the compliance program.
• Develop training and capacity-building materials.
• Coordinate with other IDB Group units, including ethics and the Office of Institutional Integrity.
