Job summary

IDB Invest is seeking an active undergraduate Law student for a paid winter internship in its Legal Department's Compliance Unit in Washington, DC. The role focuses on advising management, mitigating nonfinancial risks, and developing compliance policies through on-the-job learning.

The intern will conduct legal research, draft reports, and help create training materials while coordinating with investment teams and ethics offices within the IDB Group.

Qualifications

• Active undergraduate student in Law; graduation date after internship period.
• Fluency in English; working knowledge of one other Bank language (Spanish, French, Portuguese) is a plus.
• Strong time management, collaboration, client orientation, and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Compliance unit of IDB Invest’s Legal Department in advising Management and business teams on legal and compliance matters.
• Identify and mitigate nonfinancial risks in IDB Invest’s operations (integrity, ethics, conflicts of interest, MNPI, AML/CFT, sanctions).
• Develop and implement policies, guidelines, and procedures to prevent and mitigate compliance risks.
• Research topics related to compliance and draft reports for management.
• Develop training and capacity-building materials.
• Coordinate with other units within the IDB Group (investment teams, Office of Ethics, Office of Institutional Integrity).
