Miles & Stockbridge is seeking a Legal Billing Specialist to join the Finance Team in a role that reports onsite daily. You will handle monthly invoices, review and format bills, apply retainer funds, and support high-volume billing with accuracy.

This is a dynamic firm environment that values collaboration with attorneys and staff. The position emphasizes professional billing operations across multiple clients, with focus on deadlines, confidentiality, and compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Billing experience in a law firm or professional services environment.
• Proficiency with billing software such as LMS or Aderant.
• Experience using Microsoft Office, especially Excel for accounting tasks.
• Flexibility to adapt to varied hours including month-end and year-end close.
• High level accuracy, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Compiling and issuing monthly draft and final invoices.
• Reviewing, editing, and formatting bills per attorney requests.
• Applying retainer funds as directed by attorneys.
• Processing write-offs and holds per firm policy.
• Managing complex billing arrangements (split-party billing, multiple discounts).
• Preparing and sending bills using an e-billing system and resolving issues.
