A leading government agency seeks a full-time Legal Assistant I in Harrisburg, providing essential clerical support for the Civil Law Division. Telework: This position will report to the headquarters location a minimum of 2 days per week. You may have the opportunity to telework the remainder of the week, if desired (candidates must have a computer/laptop and internet access) and based on business need. During the 6-month probationary period, no telework options are available.

Work Hours: 8:30 – 5:00
Salary Range: Starting salary of $39,785
This position is designated as a Confidential Position. Employees in confidential positions are not eligible for union membership and do not pay union dues, do not accrue seniority, and do not receive union representation regarding discipline, classification, or other matters. They do receive general salary adjustments as per the applicable bargaining agreement, health and life insurance benefits, leave and holiday entitlements, and, if authorized, overtime compensation.
Basic Function:
The primary role of this position is to support the Civil Law Division. Assignments are received through the Attorney Resource Center (ARC) Ticketing system from Civil Law Division attorneys and investigators. Work involves legal clerical activities performed with independent judgment. Skilled typing and processing of legal documents are required.
This position provides clerical support to all sections within the Civil Law Division involved in representing Commonwealth agencies, officials, and employees in federal, state, circuit courts, and the Supreme Court of the United States. Cases involve issues such as federal constitutional, federal statutory, state statutory, common law, tort, tax, and bankruptcy claims and appeals.
