Position Summary:
The Paralegal, Account Resolution (MVA), will provide administrative and paralegal support to the attorney staff in the MVA division. This role involves drafting legal documents related to potential MVA lien enforcement actions, such as demand letters to liability carriers and plaintiff/patient attorneys, hospital lien documents, and settlement verification letters on behalf of MVA counsel. Additionally, the individual will engage in account resolution through negotiation with carriers and attorneys within the settlement authority provided by the MVA attorney team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Draft legal documents related to MVA lien enforcement, including demand letters, hospital lien documents, and settlement verification letters.
  • Provide legal support to attorneys for accounts assigned to the MVA division.
  • Identify accounts nearing the statute of limitations for lien enforcement and notify the attorney team.
  • Participate in settlement discussions and negotiations, and send documentation as requested by attorneys.
  • Draft legal correspondence on behalf of the attorney team.
  • Update the Operations and Legal teams and resolve large or complex accounts, including receiving payments, negotiating, and escalating issues as per SOP.
  • Develop and maintain a prioritized issue list and action plan to resolve critical claims payment issues.
  • Manage a queue of high-priority accounts based on various criteria such as reduction requests, balance, payer, and age.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Paralegal Certification or equivalent degree from an ABA-accredited program or college.
  • At least 2 years of prior paralegal experience.
  • Experience in negotiation on behalf of a law firm or attorney preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and civil litigation or personal injury claims.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.

  • Occasional travel may be required.
