Immediate opening for a Legal Assistant role in the Dayton, OH area!

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant with experience in creditors’ rights, bankruptcy, collections, corporate transactions, litigation, and/or real estate law. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional administrative and legal support to attorneys across a variety of practice areas, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in all aspects of case and document management.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct conflict checks and open new client matters
  • Manage attorneys’ calendars, appointments, and travel arrangements
  • Handle incoming calls, correspondence, and emails professionally and promptly
  • Prepare and process expense reports; assist with billing tasks
  • Proofread and edit documents for accuracy and consistency
  • Draft, redline, edit, and format legal and non-legal documents (pleadings, agreements, correspondence, etc.)
  • File pleadings in state and federal courts; proficiency in electronic filing is required
  • Organize and manage both electronic and physical filing systems for easy document retrieval and compliance
  • Serve as liaison between attorneys, clients, courts, and external parties
  • Ensure timely delivery and receipt of legal documents and correspondence

Qualifications:
  • Prior experience as a Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary
  • Background in one or more of the following: creditors’ rights, bankruptcy, litigation, collections, corporate transactions, and/or real estate law
  • Strong knowledge of legal terminology and procedural requirements
  • Experience with state and federal court systems, including electronic filing
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong proofreading skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
  • Professional demeanor with a positive, team-oriented attitude
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize effectively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.); ability to learn new legal software
  • Ability to lift at least 10 lbs. and sit for extended periods
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime as required
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM
Pay: $21/hour
