Bowman and Brookeis a leader in handling complex civil litigation. Our team is passionate about litigating cases in state and federal courts, and we have decades of experience handling legal issues. Our clients include leaders in the motor vehicle, drug and medical device, chemical product, consumer product, and heavy equipment industries who rely on us to provide best in class legal services.

We are thrilled to announce our firm’s rapid growth! We are actively searching for an experiencedLegal Administrative Assistant/Legal Secretaryto join our team in our Torrance, CA(LAX) office. Our Legal Administrative Assistants play a vital role on our case teams and are respected for their ideas and contributions. This position will be a hybrid role with remote and in-office days.

Position Responsibilities

As a Legal Administrative Assistant/Legal Secretary, you will assist attorneys and paralegals in the organization with documents and workflow necessary for the smooth running of the firm.

  • Filing documents in state and federal courts
  • Preparing and maintaining charts with hyperlinks for documents
  • Preparing binders for attorneys and judges
  • Creating and saving documents and emails to a document management system (iManage) in accordance with firm policy
  • Calendaring legal due dates in CompuLaw
  • Maintaining attorneys calendars, scheduling meetings and other calendar commitments
  • Making travel arrangements and processing expense reports
  • Processing monthly client disbursements
  • Organizing and maintaining case files
  • Providing support to multiple timekeepers
  • Supporting overall Bowman and Brooke administrative needs by assisting team members where needed

Job Requirements

Our ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic and the ability to work well under pressure and against tight deadlines. You must also possess excellent attention to detail and have the ability to multi-task. Your confidence and communication skills will help you develop relationships of trust with members of our team.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Exceptional computer skills, including proficiency with software programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Outlooks, Teams, Compulaw, etc.
  • Strong understanding of court rules and procedures with ability to obtain documents from online court directories
  • Ability to work overtime when the need arises
  • Heavy computer use
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments
  • Ability to lift at least 30 lbs. (files and boxes)

Education and Experience

  • Civil Litigation experience required
  • Demonstrated employment stability
