The University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for a Lecturer or Teaching Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and Cultural Analysis. The appointment is a 9-month, non-tenure-track position with an 80% teaching responsibility and potential course release for service and professional development.

We seek candidates with proven teaching excellence to cover core courses including WMST 101, ETS 280, GRI 103, GRI 230, and related topics, with a strong commitment to diversity,

Qualifications

• Lecturer: MA in Feminist Studies, American Studies, Ethnic Studies, Sociology, Native American Studies or related field.
• Teaching Assistant Professor: PhD in Feminist Studies, American Studies, Ethnic Studies, Sociology, Native American Studies or related field.
• Demonstrated excellence or clear evidence of potential for excellence in teaching, including courses listed (WMST 101, ETS 280, GRI 103, etc).
• Experience collaborating on curriculum design and implementation with a focus on diversity, equity, inclusion, access, and social justice.

Responsibilities

• Teach core courses in LGBTQ+, Latinx-identity, Native American Culture, Sociology, and Women’s Studies.
• Maintain a 4/4 teaching load with potential course releases for significant service.
• Possible off-term teaching opportunities for additional compensation.
