Job description

Lecturer – Public Administration (Pool)

University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS)

UCCS seeks part‑time (less than 50% time) Lecturer to prepare and teach courses in Public Administration (PADM 3950, 3951, and graduate courses) in a flexible, semester‑by‑semester pool. Classes may be on campus, online, or hybrid.

Responsibilities
  • Class preparation and delivery of course materials.
  • Creation of assessments (examinations, papers, learning activities) and grading.
  • Maintaining availability for student consultations during the semester.
  • Regular communication with the program director and staff throughout the semester.
  • Participation as needed to teach courses within the pool.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A doctorate degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
  • OR: A master’s degree in public administration or related field from an accredited institution AND at least five (5) years of relevant work experience at a leadership or specialized expert level.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous teaching experience at post‑secondary levels and/or leading professional training.
  • Experience teaching in multiple formats (in‑person, online asynchronous, hybrid).
  • At least five (5) years of relevant work experience at a leadership or specialized expert level.
  • Knowledge of specific areas: Local Government Administration, Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Strategic Public Management, Nonprofit Management.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary by course: 1st & 2nd course = $3,250/course; 3rd & 4th course = $3,450/course; 5th course and beyond = $3,750/course.

Position is exempt from FLSA overtime provisions.

Work Location

Determined by course modality: on campus if teaching an in‑person course; remote if teaching an online course; or a combination for hybrid courses.
