The Department of Social Work at California State University SanMarcos seeks a part-time lecturer to teach MSW 510- GeneralistPractice I: Individuals. The course is a 3-unit class, has one3-hour class each week of the 15-week semester , and is taught in a hybrid format (half of thecourses will be online and the others are in-person at the SanMarcos campus). The course is scheduled for Thursdays, from 1:00 to3:50 p.m.

Course Description

Addresses generalist social work practice with diverse individualswithin a person-in-environment perspective. Emphasizes core socialwork knowledge, values, and skills within the context of evidenceinformed engagement, assessment, intervention, andevaluation.

Minimum qualifications:
  • A Master of Social Work
  • Five (5) years of post-MSW experience
  • Five (5) years of applicable post-MSW full-time practiceexperience working with individuals in direct practice social worksettings
  • LCSW licensure
  • Per the California State University’s Out-of-State Employment Policy , the CSU isprohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related workoutside California. Working in the State of California is acondition of employment.
Preferred qualifications:
  • A doctoral degree in Social Work or in a closely relatedfield.
  • Experience in teaching classes and instructionalmethodology
  • Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrateintercultural competence and a commitment to serving our campuscommunity as it relates to teaching and, as applicable,service.
Salary commensurate with degree level and experience
  • Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,507 - $6,677 per full-timemonth

The salary schedule information for the Lecturer – Academic YearClassification is available based on the following ranges:

  • CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer A - AY: $5,507 –$6,677 per full-time month

The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum ofthe appropriate range, commensurate with education andexperience.
