The Department of Social Work at California State University SanMarcos seeks a part-time lecturer for fall 2026 to teach MSW 540Field Instruction I. The course is a 3-unit class, has one 2-hourclass each week of the 15-week semester , and is taught in a hybrid format (half of thecourses will be online and the others are in-person at the SanMarcos campus). The course is scheduled for Tuesdays 8:30am-10:20amand also involves site visits with student practicumagencies.

Course Description

First course of a foundation two-semester sequence. Supervisedpractice in a social services or related agency developing basicmicro, mezzo, and macro skills with an emphasis on culturallyinformed social work practice. Field seminar and 16 hours weeklysupervised agency field experience.

Minimum qualifications
  • A Master of Social Work degree
  • Five (5) years of post-MSW experience.
  • Five (5) years of applicable post-MSW full-time practiceexperience working in direct practice social work settings.
  • Experience in supervising MSW students/recent MSW graduates ina social service setting.
  • Per the California State University’s Out-of-State EmploymentPolicy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California. Working within the State ofCalifornia is a condition of employment.
Preferred qualifications
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) licensure.
  • A doctoral degree in Social Work or in a closely related field.
  • Experience in teaching university classes and withinstructional technology.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrateintercultural competence and a commitment to serving our campus community as it relates to teaching and, as applicable, service.
Salary commensurate with degree level and experience

The salary schedule information for the Lecturer – Academic YearClassification is available based on the following ranges:

  • CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer A - AY: $5,507 - $6,677 per full-time month

The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum ofthe appropriate range, commensurate with education andexperience.
