This is a teaching‑intensive, nine‑month appointment focused on undergraduate instruction on campus. The successful candidate will teach a range of sophomore and junior courses (and some senior‑level offerings), in person, and participate in occasional summer instruction depending on funding.

Qualifications

• MA in human communication or related field at the time employment begins.
• Record of high-quality college teaching experience in general communication courses.
• Experience teaching online courses is a plus.

Overview

The School of Communication and Journalism at Auburn University seeks candidates for a Lecturer position in Communication beginning Fall semester, Aug. 16, 2027.

This is a teaching‑intensive position in the undergraduate Communication program. The primary responsibility of the successful candidate is to teach a range of in‑person, on‑campus sophomore and junior‑level communication courses (such as Small Group Communication, Communication in Society, Intercultural Communication, Foundations of Human Communication, Conflict Communication, Research in Human Communication) as well as some senior‑level courses (such as Social Movements, Leadership, Communication and Cognition), during the Fall and Spring semesters. Supplemental support for summer instruction may be possible depending on need and availability of funding. Candidates should indicate in their cover letters the courses they are qualified to teach. Responsibilities

The full‑time, nine‑month appointment runs from mid‑August to mid‑May. The Lecturer will teach four courses per semester.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach in person, and have taught or be willing to teach large lecture courses and online classes. The candidate is also expected to be an engaged member of the School by serving on committees.

Qualifications

Required qualifications include an M.A. in human communication or related field at the time employment begins. The successful candidate will have a record of high‑quality college teaching experience in general communication courses. Experience teaching online courses is a plus.
